How Mrs Riley’s dedication to the Christmas Kindness Appeal Jersey is bringing hope, happiness and support to families in need.
Everyone is delighted to hear that Mrs Riley has been nominated for an award in recognition of her wonderful work with the Christmas Kindness Appeal Jersey! Her nomination celebrates the time, effort and compassion she has dedicated to helping children and families who may be experiencing difficult circumstances.
To find out more about this exciting achievement, I had the opportunity to interview Mrs Riley about her experiences, the challenges she has faced and what inspires her to keep making a difference.
Making a difference, one gift at a time
When asked how she felt about being nominated, Mrs Riley explained that she was happy, particularly because the nomination brought more attention to the organisation she supports. She also felt grateful to know that her efforts were helping so many people.
However, supporting such an important cause has not always been easy. Mrs Riley shared that collecting gifts and donations could sometimes feel awkward, especially when asking friends and family to contribute. She also spoke about how difficult it could be to hear the stories of children and adults facing challenging circumstances. These experiences helped reinforce why the appeal matters so much and why she is determined to help those in need.
The power of kindness and community
One of the most inspiring parts of Mrs Riley’s work is seeing the happiness it brings to others. When asked what made her proudest, she explained that receiving messages from people she had helped, telling her how happy they were with their gifts, was particularly rewarding.
Her message to others is equally powerful. Mrs Riley believes that everyone, whatever their background or family circumstances, deserves to feel important, valued and needed. She also wants people to remember that asking for help or guidance is nothing to be ashamed of.
When asked what advice she would give to someone hoping to make a similar difference, her answer was simple: “Go for it!” She recognises that helping others takes hard work, but believes that the rewards make every effort worthwhile.
Family, teamwork and looking to the future
Behind every successful appeal is a great deal of teamwork. Mrs Riley explained that the first people she wanted to celebrate her nomination with were her team, her husband and her children. She knew they would be proud of her achievement and wanted to share the exciting news with them.
Balancing her charitable work with family life can be busy, so planning and managing her time are important. She also tries to involve her children in helping others, turning the experience into something they can enjoy together while learning about kindness and generosity.
Although Mrs Riley is not assuming that she will win the award, she hopes the nomination will open doors to bigger projects and new opportunities in the future. Whatever happens, her commitment to helping others remains something to celebrate.
An inspiration to us all
Mrs Riley’s nomination is a wonderful reminder that small acts of kindness can have a lasting impact. Through her dedication to the Christmas Kindness Appeal Jersey, she is helping to bring happiness, hope and support to people who need it most.
A huge thank you to Mrs Riley for taking the time to answer our questions and share her story. Her hard work and compassion are an inspiration to our school community, and we wish her the very best of luck in the awards!
Good luck, Mrs Riley! We hope you win — you truly deserve this recognition!
